FAQ

How many real money does 1 currency unit represent?

-In WWII all costs are calculated in real US dollarsof 1939*. In order to avoid confusion
about the many 000's, cost figures are givenin millions of dollar. The symbol M$
is used except in the excel spreadsheets thatare used to keep track of all money flows.
When giving orders, please use M$ or ,000,000to denote the right amount of money.

*Other currencies were converted at the 1939 exchangerate to keep the game manageable.

You state that there will be a one monthturn game.
I understand and appreciate that we canonly send our turn orders once per
month, but does that mean that we canonly send mails to others once per month

-yes

  or is that forwarded regulary.

-no

In particulary I can see some issues regardingdiscussions about tactics and
such, which needs to be flowing.

-i understand your worries, but once you get usedto the system, you will find ways to
get the same amount of information through lesscommunication. this kind of
communication is quite realistic for diplomacyand leader-subordinate interactions.
i assume you know the other players in your nation'steam and you wish to discuss tactics with them in
private. you may request to do so with permissionof the referee, provided that he
gets a copy of all communications.

-note that communications MUST be limited in anyrealistic wargame. as an army
group commander, you are concerned over the frontsituation day and night. you
probably don't sleep more than any of your soldiers, which is seldom more than 4 hours
a day. you simply don't have the time to discusstactics with your officer friends all
day. maybe when the front has calmed down a bitor when you retire...

If you play a minor country will you havethe possibility to "hire" more
  people if need be?
Ie if I play turkey and conquers say partof russia, iran, iraq and are in a
prolonged war there might be need forsome more officers and such.

-that's correct. yes you can hire people, butthe game is not designed not to
be dependent on the availability of players.you can still control it - you just don't
control the additional power in the same detail.
so generally - yes, through new players on yourside you improve your chances, but
not as much as to overthrow the balance. evenfor the new player, it might be more
interesting to fight on a different side.

I am not sure whether the 200-word limit for ordersis adequate for
all types of orders, especially for inter-playermessages (if you look
at historical alliance contracts, peace negotiationdocuments etc.,
those were way longer). If I would like to, forexample, invite the
Western Allies to peace talks, could I use alittle (I mean "little", I
won't write 20 pages...) more space?

-there is no limit on diplomacy, but one pageshould not be exceeded

Meeting other people: what happens if I,for example, invite another
PL to meet me personally for negotiations,of if I invite all my
military commanders for a conference onstrategy? Is there a way to
"simulate" a conversation, a rapid exchangeof arguments and
  suggestions, in the game?

-just do it and see what happens. if hitler couldhave asked somebody (god perhaps?
or satan?) 'what happens if i do this and that'and knew the answers we would
probably now walk with stiff arms.

The following is a touchy question, justignore it if you don't want
to answer (I can understand), but it'ssomething I keep thinking about:
do "personalities" have an effect on thegame? I mean, if I chose to
appoint Guderian as an expert for developingnew tanks, or Albert Speer
as new armaments minister (knowing thatthey did well historically),
will there be some advantage, or doesn'tit matter at all?

-basically yes. but remember there may be otherconsequences. example: you appoint
guderian (a young divisional commander) to CinCHGr. A. Well now HGr. A  might
perfrom better with its tanks but ALL other generalswill be upset because they were
passed over for promotion. there are vast possibilitiesof adverse consequences...

1: Has my AGC left the game?

-no

2: Resources (Seite 2) What does #MS exactly mean?

-number of merchant ships (required to ship thatmany resources over that distance)

3: What is the HQ in the AGC force pool?

-this (exceptionally) is the HQ on map. all otherforces listed there are under production or training.
they are available on the month listed. theyare then issued to the command's force pools.

The rules say "Each army group can have exactlyone stockpile at any
time", but I can see that My AGC2  has 5?

-must be a typo. read: "Each army group can haveexactly one force pool (location) at any
time". It means that you only draw your fuel, ammo, reinforcements etc. from this pool.
Stockpiles can be used to supply remote or isolatedunits, or to give an offensive extra
punch. There is also a mistake in the field manual. One stockpile is required per corps
for a major offensive.

I am not sure what my production is. In the forcepool charts I can see
that my commander will receive troops and materialin the coming months, but then what is
the "Current Production Contracts"  for?
-In each economic turn, you will produce theseunits. You can change the contracts to
alter production once before each economic turn(so for october, you need to order
changes with your october turn)

In the research chart my Fighter Aircraft Researchhas a Result marked,
but my Bomber Aircraft Research hasn't?
-So your researchers are hard working on it butyet achieved no results.

How do I change any of them if I wish? For example future military builds?
R&D areas? upgrades to bases or tobuild new bases or industrial areas?  The
rules are very very vague on this areaof the game, and it seems that this
would be a very important part of thegame.

-use FFO to force changes or request estimatesfrom possible contractors (eg. for
upgrading bases, building industries, railroadsetc.). or you can post a contest for
government building contracts...

-General remark: The FFO (Free Format Order) isthe general concept through which
orders are given. Order Forms were introducedto ease handling of large forces.
In any case you need to state sender, recipient, location of recipient and date to
insure your orders arrive at the correct branchon time.
